Greetings and thank you so much for visiting my website!
I'm an artist from Virginia...I was raised in Manassas but since grad school I called Charlottesville home. There I taught middle school art and then worked as a muralist/ faux finisher. Concerning my own artwork, I held numerous solo art shows (such as "99 Versions of Laura Lee on the Wall") as well as being voted Best Artist of 2006 by the C-Ville Weekly. Next I spent the winter of 2007 as avolunteer teaching art in Ghana through the Junior Art Club of Ghana.
After that adventure, I moved to New York City where I continue to be inspired and stimulated by my new surroundings.
I started making my current style of artwork in grad school (I studied art education) as my own form of art therapy and to learn
how to really cultivate my own creativity. I add anywhere from 3 to 6 new pieces each week, and I've now created over 1000 images in this ongoing visual dialogue. Ulitmately, I picture my artwork
being published as some type of comic/graphic novel/book rather than lining the walls of galleries...so we'll see where is ends up!
Each page is a different vignette expressing a particular idea or emotion. Some pieces turned out just like how I saw them in my head…some were happy accidents…and
then some just
seemed like a good idea at the time. But to me they all blend together into one narrative that is, pretty much, my life…
I only started sharing this artwork with people outside my close friends and family in 2005, and it surprised me how much other people seemed to really relate to
them. Because to me each piece is so personal and introspective, I really just make them for myself…in my effort to better understand the world through better understanding
myself…to document the little instances that inspire me…to express my undiluted thoughts right from my heart and my gut as truthfully as possible…you know, the usual…
So I hope my artwork can perhaps make you feel inspired, or connected, or if anything just simply amused. Please email me if you'd like to be added to my mailing list or subscribe to my blog if you enjoy seeing my new work, and please know your support is greatly appreciated!
